Buenos Aires will host the 4th SUMMIT and International Tradefair for the sustainable biomass and biofuels industry

The fourth Summit and International Tradefair for the sustainable biomass and biofuels industry will be held from 21 - 23 October 2008 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and will be attended by high level guests from the MERCOSUR countries and from Europe. A total of 30 speakers will be reviewing 20 vital issues including the subject of bilateral relations regarding biomass and Biofuels.

The October 2008 conferences programme will feature 30 speakers of international renown from MERCOSUR countries and Europe who will be reviewing 20 key issues such as the different bio energy and biofuels policies for 2020, the relationship between prices of feedstock for food and fuel, the efficacy and profitability of different raw materials per hectare, feedstock and first and second generation technology, efficient agriculture versus subsidised agriculture, imports and exports, bi-products and their applications; technical standardisation and accreditation of biofuels, the environmental and social impact of Biofuels and ethanol and feedstock price pressures, to name but a few of the topics that will be covered in depth at this 4th International Summit.

Finance and Accreditation

Two burning issues will be covered in seminars, (re)financing and investments in biomass and biofuels plus a seminar on standardisation and accreditation of sustainable biofuels production.

Biomass & Biofuels Tradefair

The Summit will also be inaugurating a tradefair for the industry which intends to become a central business hub for the biomass and biofuels sector. Entrance to the tradefair will be free for professionals. The fair will be showcasing biomass, agro-products and feedstock for Biofuels, Biofuel production and processing plants, accessories, semi-finished products, logistics, transport, utilities, structures and constructions, technology solutions and financial services plus R&D.

Objectives

This 4th Summit and Tradefair offers the MERCOSUR region's biomass and biofuels (agro) industry the opportunity to make business contacts as well as to get up to date with the technology, machinery, legislation and directives, (re)financing and subsidies, biomass and biofuels accreditation and sustainability. Buenos Aires was chosen as the venue for this event due to its current image and evident “renaissance” as an accessible, safe city with good infrastructures for hosting an event of this kind. All in all, 30 experts have been invited to take part, from banking and finance, industry, agriculture, forest management, NGO's, public policymakers, technology, science, logistics and distribution, automotion and the petrol industry. The aim of these conferences is to build bridges of information and understanding among all stakeholders for economically, environmentally and socially sustainable development of renewable energies.
