Madrid hosts the 3rd International Summit and Expo for the sustainable biomass and biofuels industry
The third International Summit and Expo for the sustainable biomass and biofuels industry (www.biofuelsummit.info) will be held from the 22nd to the 24th of April 2oo8 in Madrid, Spain, Palacio Municipal de Congresos with invited entities like the Spanish Ministry of Industry and global players like Unilever, Fortis, Repsol YPF, Ernst & Young.
This Summit offers the Spanish and international biomass and biofuels industry the opportunity to get up to date with latest technology, machinery, legislation and directives, financing and subsidies, biomass and biofuels certification and sustainability, as well as to make business contacts. The Palacio Municipal de Congresos venue was chosen once again to hold this event because of its quality, versatility and convenient national and international connections.The third Summit has programmed a series of conferences over two days plus a day of workshops on (re)financing and investing in biomass and biofuels, in addition to a workshop on quality standardization and sustainability certification for biomass and biofuels.
The programme will deal with hot current issues such as European and Spanish policy on biomass and Biofuels towards 2020, the relationship between prices of raw materials for foods and fuels, impacts of the “20-20-20” proposal, the efficacy and profitability of different raw materials per hectare, first and second generation technology, efficient agriculture versus subsidised agriculture, imports and exports, glycerine; cost or profit, Biofuels standardisation and accreditation, the average environmental and social impact of Biofuels and ethanol development within the European context of overproduction of gasoline, to name but a few of the topics that will be discussed in depth at the SUMMIT.
All in all 30 experts have been invited to take part, from banking and finance, industry, agriculture, forest management, NGO's, public policymakers, technology, logistics and distribution, automotion and the petrol industry. The aim of these conferences is to create bridges of information and understanding among all stakeholders on economically, environmentally and socially sustainable development of renewable energies.
