St. Petersburg hosts the 2nd International Summit and Expo for the sustainable biomass and biofuels industry

The second International Summit and Expo for the sustainable biomass and biofuels industry will take place from the 8th to the 10th of April 2oo8 in St. Petersburg, Russia, LENEXPO with 26 invited entities like the Russian DUMA and global players like Ernst & Young, European Bank, Acciona, Shell, Axens and all Russian agro and industry representatives.

This Summit offers for the first time ever the Russian and international biomass and biofuels industry the opportunity to get up to date with Russian and foreign technology, machinery, legislation and directives, financing and subsidies as well as to make direct business contacts. The Summit & Expo will take place in the wider context of the Russian Oil, Gas & Energy Forum which handles with electrical energy, hydro energy, municipal energy, fuel and energy complex, gas market, oil refining and petrochemistry, atomic energy and thermonuclear energy. The Second Summit has programmed a series of “match making meetings” to help potential business partners to locate and find each other. Translation services will be free of charge available.

The programme will deal with hot current issues such as European as well as Russian policy on biomass and biofuels towards 2020, the relationship between prices of raw materials for foods and fuels, impacts of the “20-20-20” proposal, the efficacy and profitability of different raw materials per hectare, first and second generation technology, efficient agriculture versus subsidised agriculture, imports and exports within the Russian context of an oil & gas producing country, to name but a few of the 26 topics that will be discussed in depth at the Summit.

All in all 26 experts have been invited to take part, from banking and finance, industry, agriculture, forest management, NGO's, public policymakers, technology, logistics and distribution, automotion and the petrol industry. The aim of these conferences is to create bridges of information and understanding among all stakeholders on economically, environmentally and socially sustainable development of renewable energies.
Trade show

The Trade show on biomass and biofuels will take place in the wider context of trade shows on bioenergetics, coal energy, oil refining and petrochemical industry and atomic technology amongst others. Hall 6 will be the meeting point for biomass & biofuels industry and is open to all biomass producers and providers- from agro to forestry and waste and 2nd generation - as well as all transforming industry and downstream operators, financial en scientific support and so on.
