Biotechnology Development Aspects

The Centre promotes research, educational and expert aspects of public tasks in the field of bioeconomic development and biotechnology development, including in cooperation with the biological and other faculties of the IGU;
Bioeconomics are an economy based on the use of biotechnology using renewable biological raw materials. The development of the bio-economic sectors entails energy efficiency, waste efficiency, biomass-based renewable energy, industrial greening, sustainable agriculture, new food production, development of health technologies.
The development of bioeconomics in Russia is defined, among other things, by the State programme, the Integrated Programme. Biotechnology Development Programme in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2020. The subprogramme aims to achieve the goal of a globally competitive bio-economic sector, which, together with nano-indus and information technology, should be the basis for modernizing and building a post-industrial economy; achieving the long-term goal of about 1 per cent of GDP in 2020; and at least 3 per cent of GDP in 2030;
With the participation of the Centre:
